When you use our mobile application, Tai Reader (the “App”), you trust us with your privacy. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we describe our privacy policy. We seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information
We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
Text and Clipboard Data
The App provides text translation and Text-to-Speech (TTS) functionalities for the Tai Tham (Shan) script.
- Clipboard Access: The App may access your device’s clipboard when the “Floating Bubble” or “Auto-Paste” feature is enabled by you. This is used strictly locally on your device to instantly translate and read aloud the text you have copied. We do not store, transmit, or monitor your clipboard history.
- Text Input: Any text you type or paste into the App for translation or TTS conversion is processed locally or sent directly to third-party Text-to-Speech APIs (such as Google TTS) solely for the purpose of generating audio. We do not log or store the content you translate.
Device Permissions
The App requires the following permissions to function properly:
- Internet Access: Required to download custom fonts necessary for rendering Tai Tham script and to connect to online Text-to-Speech (TTS) engines.
- System Alert Window (Draw Over Other Apps): Required to display the “Floating Bubble” tool. This allows you to quickly access the translation functionality while using other apps. The Floating Bubble does not monitor your screen or other apps; it only processes text you explicitly paste into it or copy to your clipboard when the auto-paste feature is active.
- Foreground Service: Required to keep the “Floating Bubble” active in the background and to show an ongoing notification so you are always aware when the tool is running.
2. How We Use Your Information
Since we do not collect personal data, we do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or tracking purposes.
The permissions and local data access (like clipboard text) are used exclusively to provide the core functionalities of the App:
- Translating Tai Tham script.
- Providing audio playback (Text-to-Speech) of the translated text.
- Allowing quick access to the translation tool via the Floating Bubble.
3. Third-Party Services
The App may utilize third-party services to provide certain features:
- Text-to-Speech (TTS): The App uses the TTS engine built into your Android device or standard external TTS APIs (e.g., Google Text-to-Speech). These services may process the text you input to generate audio. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the TTS engines installed on your device.
4. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Because all text processing and clipboard access happens locally on your device (or is passed securely to your device’s TTS engine), the risk of data interception is minimized. However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
5. Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 13 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the App.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last Updated” date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. We encourage you to review this privacy policy frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
